When a file is saved in PyCharm, the asterisk (*) next to the file name in the tab will disappear, and the status bar at the bottom of the window will display "File saved" for a short period of time. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + S (or Cmd + S on Mac) to save the file, and the asterisk will disappear and the status bar will display "All changes saved" for a short period of time.
