To modify permissions in Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), follow these steps:

  1. Open the Windows Command Prompt or PowerShell as an administrator.
  2. Type the command explorer.exe shell:AppsFolder and press Enter.
  3. This will open the Windows App directory. Look for the WSL app (it should have a Linux distribution name like Ubuntu, Debian, etc.) and right-click on it.
  4. Click on Properties and go to the Security tab.
  5. Click on Edit and select the user or group that you want to modify permissions for.
  6. Check the boxes under the Allow or Deny column to modify the specific permissions you want to change.
  7. Click OK and then Apply to save the changes.
  8. Close the Properties window and restart the WSL app for the changes to take effect.
