To transform an MPD (MPEG-DASH) stream into an m3u8, you can use a conversion tool or transcoder that supports both formats. One such tool is AWS Elemental MediaConvert, which can convert MPEG-DASH streams to HLS (m3u8) for use with Apple devices.

Here are the general steps to convert an MPD stream to m3u8 using AWS Elemental MediaConvert:

  1. Set up a job in AWS Elemental MediaConvert and select the input source as your MPD stream.
  2. Choose the appropriate video codec and bitrate settings for your output, as well as any other desired settings such as audio codecs and subtitles.
  3. In the Output Group settings, select “HLS Group” as the output type.
  4. Specify the desired HLS settings, including the segment duration, encryption settings, playlist name and location.
  5. Start the job and wait for it to complete.

Once the job is complete, you should have an m3u8 playlist file that references the segmented video and audio files that were output by AWS Elemental MediaConvert. This file can be accessed by any compatible player or device.
