To add horizontal labels to a line in QGIS, you can follow these steps:

  1. Load the line layer you want to add labels to.
  2. Make sure the layer is selected in the Layer Panel.
  3. Right-click on the layer and select "Properties".
  4. In the Layer Properties dialog box, click on the "Labels" tab.
  5. Click on the dropdown menu for "Label with" and select the relevant attribute you want to label the line with.
  6. Under "Placement", change the "Offset from line" to a value greater than 0.
  7. Under "Rendering", select "Parallel" for "Label orientation".
  8. Click "Apply" and then "OK" to close the dialogue box.
  9. Zoom in to your map to see the horizontal labels appear.
