To horizontally position labels along a line in QGIS, follow these steps:

  1. Select the layer with the line features you want to label.
  2. Open the Layer Styling panel and click on the Labels tab.
  3. Enable labeling by clicking on the switch next to "Label this layer".
  4. Under the Placement section, select the "Offset from line" option.
  5. Choose a value for the Distance and the Placement mode.
  6. Under the Rendering section, check the box next to "Merge connected lines to avoid duplicate labels".
  7. Click on Apply to see the labels positioned along the line.

You can also experiment with other label placement options, such as Curved, Horizontal or Parallel, depending on the shape and orientation of your lines.
