The new values of a variable determined by the factor levels of another variable are referred to as the dependent variable. The dependent variable is the variable being measured or observed in an experiment, study, or analysis, and whose values are influenced or determined by the values of another variable, known as the independent variable or predictor variable. The relationship between the two variables is often analyzed using statistical methods such as regression analysis or ANOVA.
