The procedure for modifying the default number delimiter formatting in Excel is as follows:

  1. Open Excel and navigate to the "File" tab in the ribbon menu.
  2. Select "Options" from the drop-down menu.
  3. In the Excel Options dialog box, select "Advanced" from the left-hand menu.
  4. Scroll down to the "Editing options" section, and locate the "Use system separators" option.
  5. Uncheck the box next to "Use system separators."
  6. In the "Decimal separator" and "Thousands separator" fields, enter the characters you want to use as the default delimiter formatting for numbers.
  7. Click "OK" to save your changes.

After you follow these steps, Excel will use the specified characters as the default number delimiter formatting for all new workbooks you create. If you want to change the delimiter formatting for an existing workbook, you will need to modify those settings specifically in that workbook.
