In the standard tier of GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine), the load balancer is Google Cloud Load Balancer. It distributes incoming traffic among multiple virtual machines (VMs) or containers in a GKE cluster. The load balancer is responsible for optimizing resource utilization, improving application performance, and providing high availability and scalability. It supports both HTTP(S) and TCP/UDP traffic and can be configured to provide global or regional load balancing.
