This is because groups in Gmail are considered separate entities with their own email addresses and settings. Accessing the email of a group would require different permissions and resources than accessing an individual's email. Additionally, group emails can have multiple participants, and it may not be feasible to grant API access to all participants. Therefore, the Gmail API is designed to only access individual emails, not group emails.
