The keyboard layout on iOS can be modified to display emoji by following these steps:

1. Open the Settings app on your iOS device.
2. Tap General.
3. Scroll down and tap Keyboard.
4. Tap Keyboards.
5. Tap Add New Keyboard.
6. Scroll down and select Emoji.
7. The Emoji keyboard will now be added to your list of active keyboards.

To use the Emoji keyboard when typing, simply tap the globe icon on your keyboard until the Emoji keyboard appears. You can then select the desired Emoji to insert it into your text.
