To initiate the display of caller ID using Asterisk, follow these steps:

1. Configure your Asterisk server to support caller ID by adding the “callerid” variable to the configuration file. This can typically be done in the “sip.conf” or “extensions.conf” file.

2. Set the “callerid” variable to the desired value. This can be a phone number, a name, or a combination of both.

3. Make sure your phone or softphone also supports caller ID display.

4. Test the configuration by making a call and verifying that the correct caller ID information is displayed.

Note: In some cases, caller ID may not work due to the configuration of the carrier or provider. Make sure to verify their requirements and/or settings to avoid issues.
