The method for configuring the permissions of specific directories to 777 on a Mac can be done using the Terminal application and the following command:

sudo chmod 777 /path/to/directory

Replace /path/to/directory with the actual path to the directory that you want to set the permissions for. You will also need to enter your administrator password when prompted. This will give all users on the system read, write, and execute permissions to the directory. Note that setting directory permissions to 777 can be a security risk, so use caution when doing this.
