To set VLC as the default media player on Ubuntu, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the "System Settings" by clicking on the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen and selecting "Settings."

  2. In the "Settings" window, click on "Details."

  3. In the left sidebar, click on "Default Applications."

  4. Scroll down and locate the "Video" section. Click on the current default media player (e.g., "Videos").

  5. A list of available media players will appear. Select "VLC media player" from the list.

  6. Close the "Settings" window.

From now on, VLC should be set as the default media player for video files on your Ubuntu system.
