An F4P file is a video file format that is part of the Adobe Flash family. F4P files are encrypted using Adobe's Flash Access digital rights management (DRM) system, which is designed to protect copyrighted content from unauthorized access, copying, or distribution. This DRM system was previously known as Flash Media Rights Management Server.

F4P files are based on the F4V file format, which is a container format for video content encoded using the H.264 video codec and the AAC audio codec. The F4V format itself is similar to the popular MP4 file format, but it is specifically optimized for use with Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Media Server.

Since F4P files are encrypted, they can only be played back on authorized devices or using Adobe Flash Player with the appropriate DRM license. This makes F4P files less versatile than other video file formats like MP4 or AVI. With the decline of Adobe Flash technology and the rise of HTML5, the F4P file format has become less common and is rarely used for new content.
