In a Django project, a function or method should be written in the relevant app's models.py, views.py, or utils.py files.

  • models.py is where you define the data models for your app. If a function or method is tightly related to a specific object or model, it should be defined as a method of that model.

  • views.py is where you define the views for your app. If a function or method is used to process input data and prepare it for the templates or API responses, it should be defined in a view.

  • utils.py is where you can define utility functions or helper functions that can be reused across different apps or views. If a function or method can be used independently of any specific app or view, it should be defined as a utility function or helper function in utils.py.

It's important to keep your code organized and modularized so that it's easier to maintain, test, and integrate new features into the project.
